  • Capgemini's Center of Excellence in Murcia Catches Media Attention in Spain

The Spanish press gave Capgemini’s Business Information Management (BIM) activities, especially the Center of Excellence (CoE) in Murcia excellent media coverage. Several articles in leading IT publications including Computerworld , Computing, and Techweek discussed how Capgemini is strengthening BIM services to improve competitiveness. In addition, there was extensive coverage of its BIM CoE, which industrializes BIM in Murcia.
 
Improving competitiveness with BIM

The Spanish media highlighted Capgemini’s decision to be strong in BIM, a series of services that facilitate information management throughout the lifecycle, and the articles listed all the services the company offers under BIM. Computerworld mentioned that BIM services included strategic information management, information architecture, data-warehousing and management, data analysis and reports, along with electronic file management; collaboration portals or data recovery among others.

The article noted that in addition to the BIM CoE in Murcia, Capgemini also will be creating another CoE in India which, initially, will have 1,000 specialists to provide comprehensive BIM solutions. In addition, 3,000 new consultants will support the BIM projects, bringing to 7,000 the total team devoted to this service.

Spotlight on Murcia’s Business Intelligence Center of Excellence

Each of the publications positively profiled the Spanish CoE. “Capgemini is strengthening resources for its CoE specializing in this field, located in Murcia,” notes the article in Computing magazine. It also quoted Jesús Garrán, vice president, BIM, Capgemini Spain: "This center emerged in 2008, offering support to both local and international customers. Today, there are 56 people working here, generating revenue of €2.6 million in 2009, which represents one percent of turnover of Capgemini Spain. He added that the company has much more ambitious plans for 2012, which is to grow up to 200 percent in resources."

Techweek mentioned that Capgemini’s Spanish CoE today supports as many as 30 national and international clients. The article further added, that the company aim is to make it a center of high productivity and reuse expertise knowledge assets and develop advanced technology solutions. And, that these services are offered in distributed mode, i.e. with professionals in the customer’s premises accounting up to 70 percent of the work done at the center.

Computerworld dived in deeper, mentioning that Murcia´s Center offers BIM solutions, with the Oracle technology being the most popular. The article noted that every quarter, between 20-30 clients put their trust in Capgemini’s solutions, and gave the example of Health Agency of Valencia; this client has more than 25 consultants dedicated in Murcia.
